We appreciate that the tiers below might not be financially accessible to you. This is why we have an ‘Every Step Counts' option.
Everyone who sets up a regular monthly donation is counted amongst our friends, gaining access to our special friends events & updates.
People in detention need the security of reliable support, so every monthly donation matters.
Alternatively, you can sign up to be one of our ambassadors and fundraise for people in detention doing something you love. Please email frances@gdwg.org.uk
Finally, you can take one of the most important steps and spread the word!
How does it work?

You will be taken to GDWG’s donation page, where you can select the amount you would like to donate. Please ensure you select ‘Monthly’ donations to be added to our Friends Community.
If the steps suggested are not affordable for you, please select ‘Every Step Counts’ below to set up an alternative monthly donation amount.

First Steps
A connecting step - £10
Every month, your support will cover the equivalent cost of giving someone in detention phone credit. This keeps people connected to our team, our community of befrienders, their friends and family, and to vital legal support.
To say thank you, we offer you free access to all of our Refugee Tales Walk With Us events and a pack of Ruby Wright’s bespoke Refugee Tales cards. Join us as we walk each month in solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers, embodying the welcome that GDWG extends to every person we meet in detention.
Steps Together
A step in solidarity - £20
With this donation, you express your wish to extend an invitation to a Guest Walker to join our Refugee Tales walks.
Our Guest Walkers are people with lived experience of detention and they travel from around the UK to attend our walks. By selecting this 'Step' you support us to continue extending our welcome to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.

Step Up
A vital step - £30
By taking this step, you will immediately cover the equivalent cost of one monthly supermarket voucher for someone post-detention. Every month, these vouchers help people living in destitution access healthy food.
"The vouchers give me more choices. Having choices, I feel less small. More confident. I get food from the food bank usually but having a voucher gives me more choice. "
